Elevating the experience of tea and the women who drink it. We’re building a sisterhood as a fierce advocate and champion of women.
Tea and women have a powerful history.
As an entrepreneur, tea lover and proud supporter of women’s rights I started UppercaseTea® as a modern evolution of that history and female spirit.
Inspired by the Suffragettes and the brave women before us, who united and mobilized over tea, we are a women-only brand focused on building a powerful sisterhood around tea.
Teacups aloft ladies, let’s do this. Together.
A mission steeped in history.
Women were not allowed to meet in public without men, so what did they do? They gathered together over tea at their homes when the men were out. Tea parties were revolutionary, they provided an opportunity for women to gather and discuss ideas and views in a way that was not previously possible.
For example, what started as a discussion over tea between Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, grew to a gathering of about 300 people from July 19 to 20, 1848, at the historic first-ever women’s rights convention held in Seneca Falls, NY.
This landmark event resulted in the Declaration of Sentiments, modeled on the Declaration of Independence, which asserted that all men and women are created equal and sparked a powerful women’s movement, leading eventually to women’s suffrage and equal participation.
We're here to continue that fearless and civilized female tradition.
The four pillars of our mission
We all do our best when part of a sisterhood, biological or not. To be part of a sisterhood means that you value other women as you do yourself. Sisterhood is intergenerational and diverse. When women are empowered, the entire community is empowered. We believe we have a collective responsibility to support and champion one another.
Despite major advances in civil and political rights, there’s still a long way to go in addressing the issue of gender inequality. Women still face violence, discrimination and institutional barriers to equal participation in society. Through education, advocacy and fundraising, UppercaseTea champions change and systemic reform.
UppercaseTea is a powerful forum and network of women, for women. Through networking events, showcasing female teaware designers, corporate team building, mentoring teens and providing flexible and rewarding self-employment for our hostesses, we are passionate believers in and supporters of the female entrepreneurial spirit.
Tea is at the heart of our mental and physical wellbeing. We believe women should drink more tea and we should drink better tea, free from artificial anything. Our tea ceremony provides a refreshingly civilized moment of reflection and our tea parties provide a refreshingly civilized social outlet. Tea fuels our mind, body and soul, so fill your cup ladies.
